Time:
hours
Introduction:
Psychosis is an abnormal condition of the mind which makes more difficult to distinguish what is real and what is not. It has many different causes, such as mental illness, sleep deprivation, some medical conditions, drug and alcohol abuse or traumatic events.
Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder are two examples of Psychosis developed by two different causes.
If Schizophrenia is mostly related to a physical illness affecting the brain, the DID is mostly related to episodes with a huge impact on the emotional sphere of the person, such as traumas occurred in 90% of the cases in the childhood.
Still nowadays mental issues, schizophrenia and DID included, are stigmatize by the society, especially because of the lack of knowledge about it, which develops prejudices and marginalization.
With this task we will know a bit more about Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder, from a scientific point of view and from the experience of two people affected from these diseases.
