The task is to learn about two different kinds of eating disorders which affect many people in our society and understand that it affects men as well as women.
Time:
hours
Introduction:

Eating disorder is a condition characterized by a series of eating behaviors and/or habits which negatively impact one’s health, emotions and ability to function in important areas of one’s life (for example, the ability to socialize with others). Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa - these are their full names - are the two most known.
They typically occur in childhood or early adulthood, and women are more affected than men. In the statistic, we see how the percentage of men affected by eating disorders is under-diagnosed, while at the same time there are many social and cultural intolerances around men affected by those diseases.
How much does the “image of beauty”, created by our societies, have an impact on the development of the eating disorders? And are there other causes, such as mental illness or stressful events behind the manifestation of these disorders?
In this task you will learn more about eating disorders, by reading articles and listening to the experiences of people who are affected by anorexia and bulimia.
