The course is to consider various reasons for why it was the Western World that came to dominate the world and become the richest and most developed part of our planet – why was it not China, Africa or the Americas that conquered the world?

<ol> <li>Introduction by the Core Group teacher (use the file with a review of Guns Germs and Steel as inspiration) on: <strong>30 minutes</strong></li> </ol> <p> - short description of the world before it was conquered by the West, with huge empires in Asia, Africa, Central and South America</p> <p> - the geographical advantages the Euro-Asian continent had in relation to developing into agricultural societies – many animals that could be domesticated, east-west orientation enabling spread of crops.</p> - How this created resistance to diseases that spread from animals to humans, a resistance people in the Americas and Africa lacked causing deaths of whole populations.<br /> <br /> 2. In trios, imagine how the world could have looked if one of the other regions had come to dominate the world.
