Introduction:
Whatever your productive unit is, you are a teacher and therefore you can gain much from developing your teacher values and attitudes.

Teacher values and attitudes are not something you can study and when you have gotten the knowledge into your head you are done. You get the teacher values by producing them. If you prefer to take small steps and not being courageous, you will produce few and small values as a teacher. If you take the big steps and jump into big challenges with both feet and ideas and ways of changing the world in common with people in the project and the community, you will stack value upon value as a teacher.

You become able to make things happen, to mobilize people, to solve problems, to arrange common actions, to teach about the big issues in the world in an understandable way, to find better ways and through your efforts to give your big part of making the community prosper.

You will find that values and attitudes are closely connected, because your attitude towards the hundreds of different situations you face when taking on big responsibilities will greatly influence the outcome of your efforts. It will mean a lot to the people around you that you have developed forthcoming attitudes no matter what the situation is.
This is not the ordinary way. Most schools are still based on the principle that the students must be kept under strong discipline, and under such discipline to learn what is in the curriculum. The thinking is that the teacher transfers the knowledge from his head to the heads of the students in smaller bites hour-by-hour and day-by-day. The value the students get are to become able to follow orders without too many questions asked. The attitudes of the teacher will most often be those of the judge who knows what is right and what is wrong, and the one who must give the verdict when one or more students do something wrong.

You must develop a totally different understanding of you as a teacher to make the training of people in your community run on the tracks of change and development.
You can decide that you will see the skills and talents in each and every human being, which also includes the children, and you will become a master of organizing from that perspective so that each person finds himself at the center and important for solving the task, no matter how many you have organized.

You can decide that you will gain the knowledge and abilities by working hard to be able to solve all kind of tasks, it could be ecological farming, making educational radio programs, solving technical problems, holding interesting public speeches, building houses, having great knowledge of the world of today.
Values of that kind come from practicing over and over again.
During these efforts you become “Another kind of teacher”.

Your teacher attitudes mean a lot for how people build confidence in you as a teacher. You are the one who must build a personality with your attitudes so that people see you as a comrade among comrades. Your attitudes must be of a kind so that people want to learn from your example.
They can see their own values grow and they want to share their skills when they start to understand the force coming from organizing together.

People want to make progress and they like to do it together because they experience how much more can be achieved when taking collective action.
From this perspective you can start to consider your values and attitudes as Another Kind of Teacher in your community.
