Introduction:
Half the world’s people live in poverty. None of us have lived even one day without a war going on somewhere in the world. Or with a nuclear power disaster in Japan and many more nuclear power plants around the world producing deadly poisonous waste that will not be secure even after 100.000 years. Threats from global warming and climate change. Child abuse and sex trade. Unclean water as the source of half of diseases in the world. At least 2 billion people living as poor and in miserable living conditions.
There are lots of atrocities in the world that need to be solved.

Teachers of all kinds are active in helping people build capacities in their lives, and therefore they have a big influence and are trusted by their students, be it children or adults.
Teachers also know much about what needs to be developed or changed in the community where they work and most often they also know about the big issues in the world.
Teacher politics is about using the influence, the trust and the knowledge in the service of the people. It is a decision to take between the easy-going life and the active involvement that demands solidarity and willingness to build a close cooperation with people about gaining knowledge, about doing actions and thereby providing needed changes.

Where are you teacher, when actions are needed?
Have you taken a stand?
Are you Another kind of Teacher?

There is no doubt that you are needed as “Another Kind of Teacher” with all your strengths and with your solidarity with the people. It is very much about placing yourself in the center of the work to build a human society.
Most people are ready to work for progress when the goals are defined and the leadership is there to get the work organized.

Teachers must be trained in being in the forefront of formulating needs in the community and then organizing together with local people in action after action for building up. It is a task for the many, and it builds people's capacities so that more and more can be achieved.

Teacher’s Ethics is a cousin to Teachers Politics. There are many sides of building your ethics as a teacher. It is about understanding the big issues in our world and to understand the reasons for these and the forces behind. People need to understand where poverty comes from when facing big challenges in their lives.
It is also about building human ethics in your respect for all people and to be able to use your ethics as a guideline in the many situations between human beings, and to find the right solutions together with the people involved. High ethical values are very much needed as a teacher in the community.
You could say that it is an of course to “come with your bucket of water, when your neighbor’s house is burning” – meaning to have the ethics of always helping out when needs are there.
When your ethics tells you that something in your community is wrong, your politics must be to do your best to make it right.
