Introduction:
This module is called Sociology of children, groups and institutions.<br /> <br /> According to Camilla Betoni <strong>Sociology</strong> is a discipline that deals with the study of human social life, analysing the dynamics of society as a whole, and of the unique groups that compose it. Using its specific tools, it is the field of knowledge that investigates the social relationships between different human groups, their conflicts, and their connections.<br /> <br /> Thus, the Sociology of education is sociology applied to the area of education.<br /> <br /> The module has a section that addresses the following themes (each theme represents a task): <ul> <li>Sociology as a science</li> <li>Class society and the State</li> <li>Schools and the educational system as part of the State apparatus</li> <li>The sociological discussion on the current educational system</li> <li>Sociology in education: a tool to change the world?</li> <li>Social movements in education and their origins; and</li> <li>Does today's society need "another kind of school" and "another kind of teacher"?</li> </ul> In this 120-hour module, you will work to learn, analyse, and understand the requirements in the directive of the tasks mentioned above, as well as plan your completion of the above tasks.<br /> <br /> You must be creative and make a good plan to successfully carry out these requirements in understanding of the themes and concepts in their respective tasks.<br /> <br /> The module exam will assess, among other things, fulfilment of the requirements in the task directives.<br />
