Introduction:

The discussion about climate changes and global warming has been going on for a couple of decades now, sometimes with a lot energy involved, sometimes more moderate. This reflects somehow the political focus on the issue. The political world has not yet produced a common strategy to deal with climate changes, promoting progressive steps for the societies and the people to take to meet the challenges.

Arguments and actions are taken to blur or deny the climate changes, at least the man made part, and their consequences. It can be due to direct business interests, like from the oil industry, or politicians who try to adapt to their financial supporters and expected voters at the next election. Also scientists have been disagreeing about the seriousness of the issue; they too have their different interests.

&nbsp;

This lack of taking a general serious stand from many authorities can make it difficult for people in general to take a clear stand to if there are, or will be, problems or not because of climate changes. Yet there are many initiatives taken by households, businesses, organizations, local and regional authorities in the attempt to adapt or to mitigate climate changes. There seems to be a broad accept of saving energy, to establish green energies, be as self-sufficient with energy as possible etc. There are national and regional differences in this back up, often related to economy or employment -you are not eager to leave your job in the coalmine; you know it will be good for the climate, but at the moment there is a lack of alternatives.&nbsp; Anyway, all the progressive actions mentioned above cannot be done without support from people in general.

People everywhere observe and experience the consequences of climate changes like floods, droughts and heavy winds. The impact on peoples lives and the society is different in an old, highly industrialized and organized country like Denmark and in new, poor and vulnerable countries in e.g. Africa, but everywhere people have to deal with the consequences in a way proper for the specific environment. &nbsp;There are two main questions in giving eventual initiatives an impact that matters: Acquire the necessary financial support, and make an organized common strategy and effort.

Many times things start with the last mentioned. In Denmark there are municipalities and regions that have decided to be self-sufficient with green energy and with broad support from the citizens. Solar panels are widely distributed in house holds in Germany. In India there are villages changing to ecological farming to preserve the land and the water and get a better farming on the long sight, initiatives in Africa for small-scale farmers as well. Planting trees, building dikes and water reservoirs are happening the world over. The use of local products is prioritized. People demonstrate for better conditions and more responsibility to the climatic challenges. Many NGO&acute;s are pushing to get more initiatives mitigating climate changes on small and big scale.

&nbsp;

All the individual projects done by individuals and communities count in the effort to mitigate the consequences of the climate changes. In the rich countries changes can somewhat go hand in hand with the environmental businesses. In the poor world it is much harder to get the necessary means. Many places the people try to influence the authorities and governments to take action, the pressure from many people can generate political changes. In the rich world this is more likely. In the poor world people do not have many means for financing. The hope is to make global agreements on a global problem.
