We might imagine the world as a huge place with many events and issues that seem far away from the reality in a rural village in Africa or Asia, but taking a closer look, many events and current challenges are interlinked across international borders and within a country itself. Understanding how the world is connected and how communities are affected by policies, practices and decisions taken far from the village is important to better be able to take matters into your own hands and not just become victims of centuries of bad policies and practices.</span>

EN-US">Farmers in Africa are affected by global trade agreements that give advantages to big farmers. Farmers in the US and in Europe receive huge subsidies, which make it possible for them to sell their products cheaper than the rural farmers in the developing countries. This often has a devastating effect on the lives of poor farmers.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<span lang="EN-US" new="" sans="" style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:" times="">The farmers in Africa are also affected by world wide trade speculations on stock markets that they have never heard of. The African farmers experience a change in climate making their farming more unpredictable, yet many do not know why and they can therefore easily think that it is just nature or an act of God. Not knowing the reality and the reasons for global warming makes it much more difficult to take action and start to build up defenses and implement farming methods to adapt to a warmer and changing climate. For people innocently facing hardship it is important to understand that they are not punished for bad behavior on their part but of bad policies that they are not responsible for &ndash; but nevertheless the only reliable way forward is to take collective action in the community to defend and create new opportunities for progress.</span>

		Organizing self help groups of women that go together to save money for investing in starting up an income generating activity</li>
	<li>
		Starting a common community garden farm that can provide food for vulnerable people like orphans, sick, disabled or elderly people without family</li>
	<li>
		Organizing the community to meet and discuss how the community together could become food secure for all and ending up making plans with different steps to implement over the next year</li>
	<li>
		Figure out 10 ways that people in the community can save money by organizing smart and in common &ndash; Common purchase, smart exchange of work using the special skills of different people in the community, investing in an asset (solar panel, tools or machinery that can be used by many etc.)<br />

		Decide the main idea of the action &ndash; the issue you want to target, the people you want to involve in the planning and in the action, what should come out of it, and, possibly, how the activities can continue after the action.</li>
