Why is it important with physical exercise, and why should such activities become part of a healthy lifestyle already from school age?</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Physical exercise plays a vital role in the development and growth of everyone. And it has also become increasingly clear that it plays a big role in how well children, youth and adults learn, whether at school or from their surroundings. Here are some of the reasons for this:</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">&nbsp;</span><strong><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">1. Exercise is a link to&nbsp;good&nbsp;health and prevents diseases</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Especially in cities and towns you can find examples of people, including children, who exercise much too little. And you will often find that their health is affected &ndash; for example that they become sick more easily. This is especially the case if lack of exercise is combined with eating the wrong kinds of foods, such as processed foods.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Exercise makes the body burn the food much more efficiently, and less of the food eaten is turned into body fat deposits.</span><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><strong><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">2. Exercise results in muscle strength and&nbsp;fitness</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Physical exercise develops the various muscle groups of the body, as well as motor skills and coordination skills. Ball games, for example, train rapid movements, coordination between eyes, brain and muscles, and they train endurance. The cardiovascular system is strengthened and enables you to persist instead of giving up.</span><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><strong><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">3. Exercise promotes academic learning</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Physical health allows you to function better at work, in school or when studying. A good cardiovascular system developed from regular exercise ensures good circulation of blood and oxygen. This means that more nutrients circulate throughout the body, including the brain, thus strengthening concentration during work or studies. Exercise also releases hormones that result in neurons making stronger connections in the brain &ndash; thereby facilitating learning. This has been proven in schools, where groups of students were asked to complete the same kinds of tests. The students who took the tests just after having had physical education completed the tests better than other students who took the tests some hours later.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">&nbsp;</span><strong><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">4. Exercise builds self-esteem</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Children, youth and adults who are active in physical activities such as ball games, martial arts, dancing and running become more confident in themselves. They simply feel better, because a well-functioning body is part of a well-functioning person. Being dedicated to a sport can also give increased self-discipline.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">&nbsp;</span><strong><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">5. Exercise develops cooperation and teamwork</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt">Common exercise programs, ball games, dancing and other such forms of collective activities allow us to work for a common goal. It combines and brings out the cooperative and the competitive sides of us, working both body and mind, and also promotes sportsmanship.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black; font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">According to Dr. John J. Ratey, neuro-psychiatric and professor from the University of Harvard, the sedentary lifestyle of modern life creates a rupture with the animal nature of mankind and represents one of the great threats to human health. The author of &ldquo;SPARK&rdquo;, in partnership with writer and editor Eric Hagerman, show in their book that even moderate activities stimulates mental circuits. The book explores the connection between body and brain and states that exercise is one of the most efficient tools for the good functioning of the human brain.
