The task is to get to know about initiatives and encouraging examples worldwide in the fight for environmental sustainability.

Introduction:
Governments and big companies are crucial in the fight for environmental sustainability as the scale is so large of the disaster humans have and are creating that laws and big scale changes are needed to reduce the disaster. It can seem hopeless as little is done to stop the disaster as the economic interests are powerful and overwhelming, but positive examples are happening both from Governments and people. Sometimes these come about because of pressure from public movements and actions.<br /> We will look at some of the good examples to learn from.
Directive:
<ol> <li> Start with a short situation report. You can use page 2011-2014 in History Front and find facts from some of the other files in this subject. – Write some of the facts on the board to make it easier to remember.</li> <li> Show the film “Story of Stuff”, Tides Foundation with Annie Leonard – this gives an easy to understand cartoon like explanation of the craziness of the capitalist production and consumerism and shows clearly the need for changes.</li> <li> Find good examples in History Front page 2018 -2042, from China (windmills and more), Niger (tree planting), Vietnam (mangrove) and other places to explain.</li> <li> Brain storm in the team of good examples from Governments and corporations and actions/demonstrations by people’s movements that have brought about change. Divide into groups and use ½ - 1hour to search for more information about these.</li> <li> Share the researched examples and discuss briefly what to learn from these.</li> </ol>
