The task is to get an understanding of the basics of a healthy diet and how it relates to a healthy body and a healthy soul.

Introduction:
Nutrition and health is very connected. The saying has it that “You are what you eat”. You therefore need a basic understanding of what is good for your body and what is harmful, so you are be able to choose a healthy diet. You will learn about the macronutrients, which are proteins, fats and carbohydrates and the micronutrients that you need in smaller amounts, but which are all essential for a well functioning body. You will also learn the importance of drinking enough water. Plain clean water is the best drink you can get, when considering what your body needs. Drinking tea, coffee, milk and vegetable or fruit juice is also fine and even good for you, but none of them can supplement your need for at least 1,5 liters of plain water every day.<br /> <br /> Composing a healthy diet is very much about ensuring that you get all the nutrients you need in sufficient amounts, without overeating.<br /> <br /> Another aspect of a healthy diet is to ensure good ingredients, which means fresh or correctly preserved foods. Foods without dangerous preservatives, pesticides or other artificial chemicals. The way the food is cooked is also very important to ensure that nutritional quality of the raw materials are preserved, which means to avoid processed industrial foods. Processed food is very low in nutritional value and it contains elements that can be directly harmful to your health.<br /> <br /> The information and knowledge you will get from reading the files might be new for you, so be prepared for taking a fresh look at your own eating habits as well as the eating habit of people in your community.

What do you need to change to improve your diet and thereby your immune system and general well being?</p> </li> <li> <p>Prepare what you think are the five most important points to consider in order to make a healthy diet that is affordable and can be made with the locally available food products.</p> </li> <li> <p>What do you see as the most urgent change people in the local community need to change in their diet?</p> </li> <li> <p>Send the points to your tutor for possible comments.</p> </li> </ol>
