Introduction:
If a father gets free education for his child, maybe he is not able to feed and send it to school. He requires money to buy educational materials for his child, and because of that his child may not be able to continue the education. So it is not enough to give free education. Simultaneously we have to work with other issues like health, economy, and environment, and involve children in each and every issue to create a friendly atmosphere for child development.

Humana People to People started a project line called ‘Child Aid’ in 1990. It is a community based project mobilising the families, the children, and their communities to organise themselves and take action within 10 universal lines of development, so as to improve the lives of the children, ensure their survival, and create opportunities for them to develop and use their full potential.

These 10 lines cover the main factors, which affect child development. Child Aid trains, supports, and empowers each family to be able to increase its income, so that
all family members eat a healthy balanced diet. It organises lessons and campaigns on practical skills about how to stay healthy. It introduces preschool programmes for kids. It registers all orphan children and takes care of them. The Child Aid programme strives to ensure that every child of school age attends school.

In Child Aid, the project leader is in charge of the project. The Area Leader is appointed from the community, where the project works. He knows each and every family and their backgrounds.

At present, Humana People to People runs 52 Child Aid projects in 15 countries in
Africa, India, China, and Latin America. In India it is known as ‘Community Development Project’. The first community Development Project started in 1998, and now 11 Community Development Projects are running in different states in India.

The Child Aid project involves all, children, families, family members, and the whole community.
