The task is to discuss how the TCE Program builds on the philosophy of struggling shoulder to shoulder with people.
Time:
hours
Introduction:

Humana People to People started the TCE program in the year 2000, reaching out to the first 100,000 people with 50 TCE Field Officers. TCE is a people’s liberation system that is put in place area by area, country by country. TCE mobilizes people to liberate themselves from the threats of the AIDS epidemic. It is a mass mobilization program based on the forces of the people. This is how it is implemented by Humana and this is why it works. TCE is first and foremost a prevention program to stop the further spread of HIV/AIDS, but TCE also works with care and treatment and deals with the consequences of the epidemic.

From 2000 to 2011 TCE has reached out to 10 million people at an individual level through more than 5000 Field Officers in 10 countries, 8 of them in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Field Officers do not work in isolation in their fields; they mobilize volunteers
among the people who are activists in the Passion for People Movement.
Alongside the Field Officers they volunteer to work on various activities and they
continue after the 3 years of TCE in their own areas.
Since 2000, TCE Field Officers has mobilized and educated more than 300,000 Passionates to take part in the fight against AIDS.

There are many reasons why TCE works. But one major factor is that the idea is
clear and that it is a mass movement that builds on the forces of the people. It is
well structured and comprehensively described in detail with manuals, publications and tools.
Another factor is that all the TCE Field Officers and people in the leadership of
TCE know their own status and act accordingly. They are what “TCE Compliant” from day one when they start in the fields. They are in control of HIV/AIDS in their own lives.

The goal of TCE in an area of 100,000 people is to ensure that 80% of the people
above the age of 10 are TCE Compliant. Campaigns are launched now across the borders and continents to ensure that this will be reached in all countries. TCE is a
movement and it is organized as a movement. All in TCE follow the same goals
and standards to reach TOTAL CONTROL OF THE EPIDEMIC.
