The task is to watch the film “Salt of the earth”, about a poor mining community of immigrants in USA around 100 years ago and their struggle for better conditions, and make a summary of the film and write your comments.

Introduction:
When you use the opportunity to see films in English this can be an excellent way of learning more English.<br /> The images support the language and it is possible to repete what is said so as to have sufficient time to understand the language.<br /> In this film you are going to see a classic film about workers in USA.<br /> The film tells the story of mineworkers in the state of New Mexico in 1951 who is fighting for better conditions against the brutal owners of the mining company. Some of workers are Spanish speaking Mexicans because the the state of New Mexico and other parts of what is now USA had been taken from Mexico 100 years earlier in an colonial war. <br /> The film tells the real human story of workers and their struggles. It caused great anger in USA among big companies and right wing politicians and the film was black listed and few people in the USA could see it. Whereas the filmmaker Michael Wilson was not allowed to make any more films because he was labeled as a communist.
