Title:
Wording:
The task is to prepare a current event for a morning course or the common meeting at the school.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
There is a lot going on in the world and with our busy schedule we don’t always take the time to follow up on current events around the world. Maybe you have systems for this at your school – or maybe it is simply up to each individual.

Maybe you watch news channels on TV or listen to radio or visit news sites on the Internet.
Regardless, most news is delivered with little context or background information.
With this task you could start a tradition at your school, that each week some of you will dig into a current event and give a presentation about it to everyone at the school. The topics are endless; “What is this Keystone pipeline about?” – “Is fracking dangerous?” - “What is going on in Syria?” – “How does it look today in Japan after the nuclear disaster?” – “Will there come anything out of the protests in Brazil?”

Good luck!
Directive:
This task is scheduled for 3 hours.

Decide which current event you wish to present to your team/school.

Dig into the context and background of the event and make a presentation of 15-20 minutes. You can give it as a speech, make a power point presentation, or use video or audio clippings from news stations.

Give the presentation and get comments. Did the presentation throw light on the event? Was it relevant? Did they learn something new?

Based on the comments you write a short conclusion and send it to your teacher.
