The task is to consider how essential cooperation and team work is for our human existence and to practice the skill yourself.

Introduction:
<p>Human beings have not survived due to sharp teeth or dangerous claws but due to our ability to cooperate. Think about it! We are social animals who since the early days have organized in societies, where each person had a task to fulfill in order for the group to survive.</p> <p>In so-called primitive societies each person was very much aware of his/her role in the life of the group/tribe. Grabbing food for yourself was ridiculous because you would never be able to survive if the rest of the group/tribe died of hunger.</p> <p> </p> <p>Today the world has become much more complicated but our lives are still depending on the existence of cooperation and division of labor; some teach the children, others grow the food or treat the sick. However things are fundamentally different in the capitalist society.</p> <p>At least in our part of the world, a few people are able to produce what we need to cover our basic needs, leaving many with plenty of time on their hands to engage in activities that are not necessary for survival (entertainment, video games, chatting on facebook etc.) They are no longer part of a group working together to create a good life for all. They become individuals and their choices individualized. This is fundamentally against our human nature, which is social and this has many consequences – we could call it “Capitalist Loneliness Disease”.</p> <p> </p> <p>As mankind, we are faced with huge challenges today and even more in the future when the consequences of global warming and climate chance and the end of fossil fuel with change life dramatically. Big issues, like poverty, slum cities, lack of water, epidemics, ….. You name it – cannot be taken on by individuals; it takes a collective effort. Cooperation and team work.</p> <p> </p> <p>As a Development Instructor you will not achieve anything without cooperation and team work. Regardless what you plan to do in your future, the skills of cooperation and team work are needed if you want to achieve something in life.</p> So use this unique program and opportunity to train these skills.
Directive:
This task is scheduled for 8 hours.<br /> <ol> <li>Consider the need for skills in cooperation and team work.</li> <li>Prepare a 30 minute mobilizing speech about the need for cooperation and team work. Hold it at the school and use it in the project where you will be working.</li> <li>Conclude on the effects of your speech.</li> <li>Evaluate your own ability to cooperate and team up with others and write one page about what you wish to focus on to improve your abilities.</li> <li>Organize an evening program at the school with team building games. In the files you can find many examples to chose from.</li> <li>Send your mobilizing speech with conclusion, your self-evaluation and a conclusion of the team building program to your teacher.</li> </ol>
