Introduction:
Pedagogical practice – 24 months program

The module covers 240 hours divided in 12 tasks of 20 hours. You will complete 12 through the program.

You work as a teacher in a DNS college, a primary school or another school during the distance training. The pedagogical practice is scheduled to be completed over two years. To practice as a teacher is an integrated part of your distance learning. The practice has been structured as one module of 240 hours during your 2 years of training. First and foremost you are going to practice being a teacher at a DNS school or another type of school by carrying out your daily work as a teacher. Besides your daily practice this Pedagogical Practice module will include a monthly session where you systematically train many different aspects of being a teacher. The sessions will serve as an evaluation of your efforts and achievements within the different fields of being a teacher. A pre-printed form will be used for the tasks. The process will have 5 main steps.

Planning in detail a lesson/activity/action (The plan is written in the pre-printed form)

Carry it out

Writing a summary, your thoughts about how it went and your recommendations to yourself (Use the pre-printed form)

Communicating with two fellow students and exchanging experiences of your work in a digital forum, in a face to face meeting or via the OWU website

Meeting with your Headmaster to get comments and to get your monthly practice task approved. The Headmaster will confirm your work and your report with his/her signature on the pre-printed form.

You will send your task to your tutor

The signed pre-printed form is scanned and sent to OWU. If you have supporting documents like pictures or written plans they should also be send to OWU as part of your POE.

You can use any of the titles suggested in file. If you would like another relevant title you can agree one or two titles with your headmaster out of the 12 that you will write in a year.
Directive:

Decide your practice task/tasks for the month 1-2 tasks depending of the size of the tasks you select and the volume it/they have in time. Your monthly task should cover 20 hours. Choose one or two of the tasks from the file that you will submit this month as documentation of your teaching practice. If you want another task not written on the list, but very relevant for you teaching practice, then you can contact your tutor to get your proposal approved. During the 2 years you need to choose tasks from different categories minimum one from each category and during the 2 years you have to have minimum 3 tasks within number 5 about Community work and at least 1 from each of the other categories

Make your plan (write up your plan also in the pre-printed form). Make a thorough plan for your practice task. Write a short but clear version in the pre-printed form.

Carry out your plan.

Write your evaluation of your lesson/activity/action in the pre-printed form. First a short summary of how it went (min.1 page). Then what your thoughts are, what was good? Did you plan well enough? What can you learn from how it went? What is your overall conclusion? (min.1 page). Last you write some recommendations to yourself (1/4 page)

Exchange experiences with two fellow distance learners using your practice tasks as the theme. Decide together with your tutor which two students you will exchange experiences with. You can decide to meet personally, on a digital forum or via the OWU website.

Send your pre-printed forms to you tutor. If you have amendments like a longer version of your plan or some pictures then send them too. Your tutor will then review your task and write his/her comment in the pre-printed form and send it back to you.

Meet with your practice teacher or your headmaster to present your practice task and your own evaluation.

Get the pre-printed form signed by your Headmaster

Scan it to OWU as part of your POE
