Introduction:
The common meetings are for real, they are here for us to take decisions and run our schools together – all of us being it students, teachers and the headmaster. We gather once a week, once a day or however we find it fit, in order to take good care of the business of running our school and all the activities within it. A common meeting is for many a rare bird, something unusual and something we must learn to handle, embrace and cherish. Discuss and take decisions on matters having impact on us all, is a together thing, where we listen to other point of views that our own, we try to understand what is said and argued for, we come with our point of views and contributions to the discussion, and we rest in peace, that at the end, we find the best solution and take the best decision.
The concept of The Common Meeting Running the School, is for most a strange new thing, we are not used to look at a school with these eyes, and we certainly are not used to have opinion on matters, that are not within our field of work or interest, not to mention, deliberate and being vocal about it.
At our Common Meetings we do not vote to reach a decision. Instead we deliberate, argue, listen, understand and continue until consensus. This is a very respectful and humanistic way of treating each other, understanding that only when consensus has been reached, are we truly able to move forward together. Often we get in to the trap, that “I have my opinion, and I will defend it fiercely”, forgetting to listen and trying to understand what others are saying. Why?

The common meetings represent democracy, where all are heard and all have a voice. Democracy where we take the responsibility of what needs to be done and dealt with, and a democracy where we include and respect – even those of another opinion or understanding.

Running the school together, and having the common meeting being where decisions are taken, where concerns come up, where we find support from fellow comrades, laugh and sing, cry and find comfort and build comradeship, is a great strength enabling us to move mountains together.
