Wording:
The task is to follow a recipe when cooking and to explain about the ingredients.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
I imagine that you take turns cooking at your school. For many it is a big challenge to cook for 20-30-50 people. Also many participants have never been cooking when they arrive at the school.
Cooking is an art. Cooking is a creation. Everybody needs to eat and we take pride in eating healthy and balance food on a low budget. Two people can have the very same ingredients and produce two totally different outcomes, depending on how much care and consideration is put into the preparations and the serving itself.
Cooking should be done with love, showing that you care about the people you are cooking for.
Probably your mother, who has been cooking for years, does not need a recipe when cooking. She knows them by heart and from experience.
But there are many good reasons to actually follow the recipe in a cookbook. Those who make cookbooks have put consideration into what ingredients to use and the process of preparation. It is simply a matter of following the instruction.
Directive:
This task is scheduled for 4 hours.

Find a recipe you wish to make and agree with those doing the food shopping to buy the needed ingredients. Chose a meal that has carbohydrates, protein and fat. Include fresh vegetables. Use the instruction in the cookbook to calculate the needed amounts of each ingredient.

Read the instruction carefully. Lay out all the ingredients. Go through the order in which you do what. And simply follow the instructions.

Serve the meal and explain about the ingredients you have used. Take a picture of the meal before eating. Get comments from everyone: Was it tasty? Was it healthy? Did you make enough for everyone?

Send the comments and the picture to your teacher.

NB: To help you solve this task, you can use the cook books that you have at the school or recipes you find online.
