The task is to write a summary of a text about science.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
Part I of the exam in English is that you within two hours must write 3 summaries of 3 texts – one on poverty, one on a global issue and one on science.
In the first 3 tasks in this section, you are going to train your ability to read a text and write a summary. In the final exam you have 40 minutes to read a text and write a summary. In these training tasks you have more time as you will use this to develop your skills in reading and summing up a text.

When you are going to make a summary of a text it is a good idea to print out the text and read it with a pen so you can underline the key parts of the text or make notes along the way. In this way you can glance down the text afterwards and quickly see what the main messages are.

The ability of skim over a text and get the main message is a very useful skill to have. It means that you can quickly determine what a text is about and whether this is something you want to dig deeper into.
