There is an enormous wealth of songs and poems about everything between heaven and earth. Songs and poems have throughout the millennia played an important role in human life and civilization.<br /> There are many many songs and poems about for instance love, nature, the hardships of miners, liberation, anti-war, civil rights movement, poverty, folk stories, historic events, current affairs, injustice, labour movement, religion, kings, famous people………<br /> <br /> Songs and poems are ways to express opinions, feelings, anger, love, joy, despair or admiration.<br /> <br /> They are means of gathering or mobilizing people, who through the songs and poems find a mirror of their own situation.<br /> <br /> Songs and poems are means of touching people emotionally.<br /> <br /> Having singing and poetry as part of your life is enriching in many ways.<br /> Do you sing and read poems at your school?<br /> Do you write songs and poems?<br /> <br /> If not – it is time to get started.<br /> It could start with you organizing an evening with songs and poems.<br /> <br /> Enjoy!
Directive:
<ol> <li>Read the poems and all the songs in the songbook; read the stories that introduces the songs</li> <li>Gather a repertoire of 10-15 songs and 10 poems. In the attached files are 4 poems written by Development Instructors and a homemade gathering of app. 100 songs from around the world. You can pick from that or you can find some yourself.</li> <li>Decide if you want to have a wide variety of songs and poems or you will give the evening a headline, and find songs and poems that fit the headline.</li> <li>If you don’t know the songs from the songbook, you can find many of them on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/">www.youtube.com</a></li> <li>Prepare a short presentation of each song and poem – what it is about, about its creator, about the circumstance it was written, etc.</li> <li>Invite everyone with a “happening” – e.g. with a song you write, an invitation as a poem and/or a colorful poster.</li> <li>Lead the “song and poem” evening.</li> <li>Write a summary of the event and send it to your tutor.</li> </ol>
