The task is to organise and hold a debate on a topic you have learned about during your Project Period.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
You have experienced and learned so much, seen so many new things and met so many interesting people. You have felt the misery of The Poor in neighbourhoods and villages and talked to the inhabitants of these areas about their hopes and aspirations for a better life, despite their wretched situation. You have visited the wealthiest people in their homes and discussed with these friendly folk the situation of the poor in their country – a situation they were not well aware of and that might not affect them much.

You have explored the rural areas and investigated the big cities, you have probably seen real production in factories and large plantations, worked with coffee pickers and cattle herders, interviewed managers of large companies, spoken to doctors and nurses in hospitals, visited several schools and discussed teaching and learning with many different teachers.

So many things have filled your heart, your soul and your mind. You have discussed and deliberated thoughts with one another along the way and have written many notes, reports and study tasks. With you DI colleagues you have discussed the many issues you have met.

Now the time has come for the debate; So, choose the topic you want to debate. The topic could be: The Poor and the future for example, or it could be related to the smallest children in primary school, young people in secondary school, scholars in higher education institutions, parents, workers, women, the elderly, the illiterate, environmental issues and other topics of great interest.
Organise a debate involving lots of people. Make it simple so that the participants won’t become bored. The debate should be interesting. For this to succeed, you must be well prepared and carefully plan the methods you will use.
Good luck!
Directive:

Come up with three topics that would be interesting to debate in a forum.

Choose one of the topics, summarise it and invite DI colleagues to join in.

Prepare to present your arguments, and structure it in a logical order.

Brainstorm which counter-arguments are relevant to bring into the debate.

Organise the participants of the debate, and choose the debating methods.

Open the debate by presenting your arguments.

Take photos during the event (or arrange with a DI colleague to take the photos, yourself will probably be too busy to think of pictures).

Display the photos with text after the debate has taken place.

Write a summary of the debate, include a few photos and send to your tutor.
