The task is to write an article and have it published in a newspaper or magazine.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
How can you write a good article? And how can you have an article published?
These are important questions to reflect on in the first instance. Not because it is impossible or a task only for a specialised journalist, but because generally, when you talk about writing a newspaper article, many people are afraid or feel incapable.

Often you find that many young people do not have the habit of publishing their opinions, their feelings towards daily life or about their society.

With this task you will write an article for a newspaper. A good way to prepare for that will be that you seek out other people’s articles, read them and think about writing and reading WHILE you read. There are many ways to read a text; you can read and simply concentrate on the contents - you can read, understand what the writer wants to say and AT the SAME TIME pay attention to the way the article is built up. So try now to focus on that.

Let us get back to the main questions of this task “writing an article and having it published in a newspaper or magazine”.

To write an article, you first need to answer the elementary questions related to the facts: What? Who? When? Where? How? Why?
As you answer these questions you are constructing your information. If you start now, you will see that it in fact is very simple. Choose a theme from the project period that is close to your heart.

When your article is finished, a new battle will commence, because now you will have to find a way to get your article published in a magazine or newspaper. You will need to ‘knock some doors’, but if your article is good and brings something new that is of public interest, then most likely some editors will open their doors for you.

So, write a good article that will be interesting to read - then you will find readers.
Directive:

Read the file.

Choose a theme that you experienced on your travels.

Present your theme to one or two fellow students so that they can help you outline ideas around how to write your article. Write a draft and get feedback.

Once you have written your article, show it to your teacher for further feedback.

Before sending your article to the newspaper or magazine, publish it in the school newspaper so that you get more feedback from your fellow students and teachers.

To get your article published in a newspaper or magazine, create a core group or school commission, which will go and negotiate with the local newspapers and magazines. The more newspapers you can get on board, the better. It is important to note that you will need to be insistent to get a space, so keep trying until you succeed.
