The task is to learn how to make super good bread.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
Remember a Sunday morning coming to brunch and there is fresh baked buns still steaming hot and right from the oven. The butter melts before you can spread it – but how wonderful it is with cheese and a cup of fresh coffee – ummm.

Or you are driving in a bus on the way to India. The sun is just coming up and everybody is slowly getting out of their sleep. You stop by the bakery, which is a man sitting by the road side preparing dough and throwing the flat bread onto the inside of the clay oven – once they fall off the wall, they are done. You buy a stack, get them wrapped in newspapers and carry them back to the bus and a feast of hot bread with yoghurt and onions for breakfast is served – ummm.

Or a cold winter day you come for lunch and there is a rich hot vegetable soup with fresh garlic bread – ummm.

Bread is a stable food in many cultures around the world. (I do not talk about “toast” – which is a disgrace to call bread. It contains nothing!)
But I talk of real bread in all it hundreds of different varieties and prepared from years of passed-on traditions as well as newer inventions comprising all kinds of good and healthy stuff. Bread production is an art – it is a science – it is a profession.

There is so much to gain from producing your own bread at the school. It is a treat, delicious and a therapeutic activity to produce. It is more expensive that most bread you can buy – but with experience you can swoop and change the ingredients around and produce your own recipe that fits your taste and budget.

ENJOY
