Time:
hours
Introduction:
We spent almost 1/3 of our life sleeping.
So how do you sleep?
When it comes to sleep it is not just quantity that matters, but also quality. How you feel during your waking hours depends highly on how well you sleep. Similarly, the cure for daytime fatigue and sleep difficulties can often be found in your daily routines. Your sleep schedule, bedtime habits and day-to-day lifestyle choices can make an enormous difference to the quality of your nighttime rest. You need a good night’s sleep to be productive, mentally sharp, emotionally balanced and full of energy all day long.
Some people have no difficulties falling asleep and staying asleep all night long, while others have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep.
Maybe you need an alarm clock to wake you up in the morning and you really have a hard time pulling yourself together to get out of bed.
Millions of people have sleep disorders and in the western world the prescription of sleep medication is growing exponential. In the US alone, between 50 and 70 million people have trouble sleeping and rely on sleep aids. This has a high cost as there are numerous consequences such as increased risks of getting cancer, diabetes, obesity and depression.

There is a lot more to getting a good night’s sleep than you think! There is a lot going on in the body while we sleep that is all of vital importance to our lives and even if you count yourself as one who has no problems sleeping, you will be surprised, when doing this task.
Directive:
This task is scheduled for 3 hours.

Read the file with the two articles: “How to sleep better” and “How much sleep do you need?”.

Consider what you have learnt and take 5 decisions to improve your sleep.

Share your decisions with team mates – have them take similar decisions so you can compare results after 3 weeks.

Follow up after 3 weeks – have you improved your night’s sleep?
