Introduction:
Art does not exist only to entertain, but also to challenge one to think, to provoke, even to disturb, in a constant search for truth. Art can also be used to inspire, to connect, and to encourage peace in the world.
Many artists want to create work that has a social impact, but this has not been the role of art through all of history. Many ancient civilizations were using art as an expression of culture and religion. Today there are thousands of ways to get involved in art projects that are looking for the public to spread the artist’s message.
Through poetry, music, photography, video, and theater, communities can take a stand and change the way people think about something. Art is a tool for change.
