The task is to make a street theater and perform it 3 times.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
Street theater and performances in the streets is an ancient tradition. Some use it to perform music, magic or artistic expressions, often for raising money.
Others use it as a tool to create awareness and open people’s eyes to an issue.
Women in India making street theater to draw attention to the way people with mental problems are treated. Young people in Chicago performing street theater to show how the capitalistic system works. Michael Moore has travel around the US to make numerous actions for current issues, such as gun violence, corporate crimes, homelessness, etc.
Street children in Brazil dancing, playing music and singing to raise money.
Street theater is a special art. It cannot be done as on a stage in a theater building.
By nature people are on the move in a street and you need to have the message clear in every part of the performance. It is difficult to make a “story” and build it up to a final climax. People might simply not stop and wait for that.
There must be action and speed. Loud and clear speech (unless you have microphones). Catching slogans – can be supported by posters for example. It is also a good idea to dress up and use simple props.
It is a lot of fun making street theatre and usually people enjoy when there are happenings taking place right in front of them.

Enjoy!
Directive:
1. Decide which message you want to bring to the public.

2. Watch the videos "Occupy Chicago", "Worlds biggest incinerator brought down" and "Protesting over sleeping guards at nuclear power plant" (from the media server). They are street theater performances as inspiration.

3. Compose the performance and try it out until you can do it flawless and by heart.

4. Make your props and costumes.
