Introduction:
During your time in the Service Period you will be working alongside some of the poorest people on the planet. You will get close to them, become friends with them and get a thorough insight into their situation. This is in many ways a situation that will touch you and stir your emotions and it can be difficult to express what you experience.
We see so many statistics about poverty in the world and most people have gone death, blind and numb and do not get in touch with the real people behind the figures.
Writing poems and songs is a tool you can use to express yourself in more than one dimension. Poems and song do not have to be linear but can be complex. They can hit people in the heart.
It is an art to be able to write good poems and songs, but if you have something on your heart and mind you can also train yourself in expressing this in poems and songs.
