Wording:
The task is to learn how to make and install solar water bulbs.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
In most rural areas people do not have electricity. This has a huge influence in people’s lives. Life starts when the sun goes up and stops when the sun sets, which cut the number of productive day light hours and limit the number of activities people can do.
Many rural huts and houses are without windows and/or are pretty dark inside. This is traditionally also a way of keeping temperatures low inside.

However with this simple “solar water bottle bulb” you can change a lot in people’s lives. A simple bottle with water and a few drops of bleach and some sunlight can make a bulb with the equivalent of a 55 watt electric bulb. Installing these in people’s houses, schools and community centers, where there is no electricity, will make it possible for people to make all kind of activities inside thus transforming rural life.

In this workshop you will learn about solar bottle water bulbs and produce some to demonstrate their usefulness and you will bring this useful knowledge and skills with you to Africa/Latin America.
