The task is to prepare a presentation to the Open Sunday at the school about a big issue of our time.

Introduction:
In this task you will prepare a presentation for an Open Sunday at the school – if you do not have such a tradition, you must find another way where you can reach a public forum.<br /> The task is to prepare a 30 minutes’ presentation about a big issue of our time and present it in a way that gives people both information, background knowledge, food for thought and maybe also ends up getting them to change/take some action.<br /> It is not easy to be a good public speaker – but it is something you can develop from practice and by accepting that this is a skill like any other skills that you can learn.<br /> There are numerous issues to take up and give presentations about. Remember people often have little proper information about what is actually going on in the world – both because the main stream media is occupying all major news outlets, most people have a busy day and not time to go into details or backgrounds about what they hear and thus will often base their opinion on wrong or misleading information.<br /> <br /> Here are some topics you could choose from – but choose something that is on your heart already: “Why we of course say Welcome to Refugees” – “Global warming and climate change is hitting the Poor the hardest, and it is also our business” – “Local food production is a must – everywhere!” – “Why We the People have to step up and unite in action” – “The situation of the world’s children and what we can do” – “The big issues facing mankind takes collective actions by We the People” – “When disaster strike, we bring our bucket of water” – “Our humanity is not for sale!” – “Tasks of humanists in the 21<sup>st</sup> century” – “Fighting Shoulder to Shoulder with The Poor” – “HIV/AIDS is a fight for everyone” – “How can we fight global warming and climate change?” – “How collecting second hand clothes creates development”.<br /> <br /> As an experienced teacher, I need at least 3 hours to prepare a one-hour morning course – even if it is about something I know about already.<br /> Here you have 4 hours to decide and prepare a 30 minutes’ presentation!<br /> <br /> Good luck!<br />

<ol> <li>First find out who your “public” is – is it neighbors being invited for Open Sunday, a club you invite yourself to give a presentation in, a school….</li> <li>Decide which big issue you want to make a presentation about.</li> <li>Make a disposition and decide what the message is.</li> <li>Make the presentation and practice giving it without having to look at a paper all the time.</li> <li>Give the presentation to the public.</li> <li>Get their comments and conclude on the presentation. How can you improve it?</li> <li>Write shortly about these 3 points – what was great – what was not so great – how I can improve!</li> <li>Send the points to your teacher.</li> </ol>
