Introduction:
In this task you are going to study one of the ancient philosophers, Plato, a Greek. When studying this philosopher, you should highlight his ideas about education. You should also look at how he lived based on what he believed in. He was a philosopher, a companion of knowledge, and an educator.

You should be inspired by the battle that he engaged in for education and in order to acquire knowledge. When studying Plato, should you think about your own life as a primary school teacher and citizen? Do you think your influence only extends to the primary school and the local villages? What more can you do to actively participate in the fight for development?

According to Plato, students should discover things by overcoming the problems that life presents them. Education should work as a way of developing a moral human being. Education should dedicate its efforts to the students’ intellectual and physical development. Classes in rhetoric, debates, music lessons, geometry, astronomy and military training. Plato said that students from lower classes should look for work from 13 years of age. He also stated that education for women should be the same as education for men.

To rouse your curiosity of this man I will present some of his affirmations:

“Beauty is the splendour of truth”

“The really important thing is not to live, but to live well”

“The first and best victory is to conquer self”

“He who commits injustice is ever made more wretched than he who suffers it”

“Education must allow the body and the soul all the perfection and beauty that they may obtain.”

This task is a good opportunity for you to learn about Plato and how he viewed the role of the State in providing a holistic education that benefited all of society’s social classes.
