The task is to study systems of closed future.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
Understanding the concept of Open Future and practicing Open Future takes some thinking, consideration and debates, and it also takes a critical look at how we are used to look upon the time ahead of us, being it our own future, the future of coming generations or the future for human beings on Earth.
There are many elements in our upbringing and culture pointing to a closed future. In fact, it is so ingrained in many of us that we think the future is open, while the reality is, that it is full of walls and closed doors that we need to tear down or open up.
One example of a closed door to Open Future is our education system. Maybe your parents has spent a lot of money on your education, so now as a well educated person, you are obligated to use this education to get a job, and create a good life for yourself and supporting your family. It is time for you to pay back, and it does not leave you with open choices for how you will spend your life, or what you think will serve humanity and the future best.
Another example is isms like capitalism, conservatism, consumerism or fascism that have a defined end goal of how the world and society should look like. These kinds of concepts take away our responsibility to develop society; it limits our thinking and thereby also our actions toward constantly building on what we want it to be.
Open Future is constantly on the move, and the actions to change current perspectives are constantly taken.
In this task you will train yourself to recognize systems for a closed future.
