The task is to share your considerations and feelings after meeting refugees from Third World countries.

Introduction:
Most of us come from countries where it is relatively safe to live and where we have peace and hope for our own good future. Wars, death, hunger, and family loss seems very far away and does not exist around us. But it is here, we just need to look around. It is real in the experiences of refugees and immigrants, who are marginalized and don’t have equal rights as the rest of us.

Our school in Denmark arranged a program for political refugees, where we prepared a nice dinner to share, a program with fun games, pool and open chat in between. Some 18-20 year-old, beautiful, smart men from Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan came to visit us. All of them had a painful story to tell about the families the left behind, dangers which they had to go through to reach Denmark and their dreams of a bright future in the asylum. They have their human right to a bright future. They have a lot of capacity to contribute to the well-being of humanity. But in Denmark they have very few rights, which will not allow their dreams to come true and will leave their potentials unfulfilled.

It is important that we show compassion and support people in this situation. Most people do not leave their home country voluntarily but out of necessity. In the future we will probably see many more refugees around the world – due to conflicts and environmental changes – and it is essential that some step up for the right of all humans to be able to live a live in peace and prosperity.
Directive:
