The task is to read the book "The Shock Doctrine" from Naomi Klein and share your impressions about seeing the world from a new angle.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
Some books can make us really understand what is going on in the world today, and “The Shock Doctrine” is one of them.
Naomi Klein sees disasters and shocks in this world with much clarity, and she has given a name to what is happening: The Shock Doctrine. She explains in her book how the influence of neo-liberal thinking on politics have lead to many events in history, which had an agenda that was much more hidden than you could imagine.
The use of shock is part of a doctrine, a political set of ideas, and it is put into use, again and again.

Reading this book and understanding the reality of many things that are unseen by the global majority of people, can have a strong impact on people’s world view.
Do we live in a different world than what we thought? Are there deeper underlying reasons for poverty in this world, other than what we had been thinking before? What are the real intentions behind wars?

Becoming more and more aware of what is really going on in the world, in this case from reading “The Shock Doctrine”, can shake you seriously off your feet and put you in a strange and unknown world.
New awareness as strong as this one can put everything in a new, and not necessarily a positive, perspective.
How do you process and place all this new information? How do you see your own position in this world?
Directive:

Express yourself about how reading this book has affected you personally: How did it make you feel? How do you see your own place in this world? Can anger be a productive force for you?
