The task is gain a thorough and fundamental understanding of the problems of The Poor through your own and shared experiences of having worked shoulder to shoulder with The Poor.

Introduction:
During the service period, you have been Fighting with The Poor and have had a multitude of experiences that each takes place in the specific environment of a country, a region, a community. In this context, the experiences of each of you are unique. This task supports you to dig into your experiences to get a deeper understanding of the conditions of The Poor and the global realities that are part of creating them. In the program books, you can read the following exerts about the Journal Period:<br /> <br /> <em>‘On the agenda are examples and results of Fighting with The Poor, stories and a deep understanding of the human conditions in Third World countries, examples of friendships and comradeship across borders and cultural differences, and presentations of investigations and research results about social, economic and political conditions in the countries and regions where you have worked…’</em><br /> <br /> <em>‘When all the new knowledge and experiences have been exchanged and distilled and become common property in your team, the production of Bringing It to the Public is planned in details.’</em><br /> <br /> To qualify this process takes time, discussions, debates. <br />
Directive:
<ol> <li>Read the chapter ‘The Everyday Problems of the Poor’ from the OWU Fighting with the Poor book (pages 60-63 – attached below)</li> <li>Individually use 1 to 2 days to go through each daily struggle of The Poor and make reflections of how you have experienced this struggle during the service period. Come up with examples, ideas, thoughts and reflections on how these situations impact upon the men, women and children who make up The Poor.</li> <li>The team will then come together to share experiences and gain a deeper insight upon the fights you have taken up and experiences you gained. You will find which experiences are common and which are regional to specific areas or groups of people. </li> </ol>
