The task is to study who are behind the rise and fall in oil prices and what is at stake.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
Over the past year, we have seen prices at the gas stations rising and falling – and
generally being lower than a few years ago.

At the same time, we have become aware that oil is a limited resource on the planet
and that we will eventually run out of oil – probably already during this century,
which means the future belong to other kinds of energy. This would from pure logic
mean steadily increasing prices as the commodity become more and more scarce,
right? So why are the prices rising and fall?

In this task, you will try to understand what is going on. Who are behind the rise and
fall in oil prices and what is at stake here?
Directive:
1. Read the article: “The rise and fall in oil prices – who are behind them and
what is at stake here?”, OWU 2015.

2. Answer the questions:
- Who are behind the rise and fall of oil prices?
- What is at stake?
- What does this mean for the future of preparing for a world for life without
oil?
3. Discuss your answers with at least 2 other team mates.

4. Send the answers and outcome of your discussions to your teacher.
