Organise a week for family and friends after the trip – bringing them – involving them, discussing issues and perhaps even including them in some kind of action.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
After a long journey, where we spent many days away, you came back eager to
speak to your family, friends and people close to you about what you experienced on
your travels. They also waited anxiously for your return.

The weekend that this experience proposes that you organise and hold, is an
opportunity for you to tell all your family and friends about the trip and its results,
together. There are many examples for inspiration, such as on p386 of the DNS
Africa book, Image 5, period 3, there is a description of what this day could be like:

''A Parents’ and Neighbours’ Day

The Grand Hall was unrecognizable. When the small group of visiting parents
and neighbours entered through the doors, they unknowingly entered the
Democratic Republic of Congo. The tables had been put on end and now
served as temporary walls, covered with laminated pictures showing the
scenery from the bus, the crossing of rivers and passing through small
villages. Here, there was also a big map and big posters showing some of the
incredible natural resources and the size of the country.
In one square, each group of parents had to sit down and try the Fufu with
spicy Pili pili sauce, while Congolese music was playing. In another square,
they met a family of refugees telling them about their move from the horrors
of internal conflict. In yet another, they met a Humana People to People Field
Officer, who told them the history of colonization and terrible exploitation,
and also taught them a small song in French about The Poor liberating
themselves from disease and poverty, and in the last square they entered the
chaotic streets of Kinshasa, where they saw a small video and met a street
vendor who served sweet green tea and talked about his dreams for the future
of Congo. Finally, the parents had to sit down in the first DNS teacher
training college in D.R. Congo, where they met a teacher trainee who gave
them 20 questions to test how much they could remember from their “travel”
around in D.R. Congo – the Assembly Hall. The points would all count on this
3-hour race around the whole DNS – going through all 5 travel countries
through pictures, drama, storytelling, taste and sound.”

This is an experience that could be really inspiring for you to do this task. From this
you can easily see that it requires a lot of preparation.

Good luck!
Directive:
1. Decide to do this task together in your core group. In the Common Meeting,
arrange whether this will be an event for the whole school or not and coordinate
it accordingly.

2. Come up with a possible agenda – date, time, points to cover, duration of each
point, the points of the “weekend with friends and family”. Be sure to take into
account the activities proposed in the wording: involving friends and relatives,
discussing subjects and perhaps doing an action together.

3. Define the content and the way that each point on the programme agenda will be
covered.

4. Create invitations and decide on how to get each invitation to the guest; friends
and family.

5. Confirm the participation of each guest.

6. Indicate who will do the presentations and what presentations it will be necessary
to do at the event – when and how to prepare for these.

7. Hold the event according to the programme agenda.
