The task is to write 2 catching and informative articles for OWC Newsletter.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
On OWC’s website 18-20.000 people have signed up for receiving the OWC
Newsletter. This is a very good way of spreading the word about what we do and to
keep reminding people about the opportunity of becoming part of our program
themselves or recommending it to someone they know. It is also a way of informing
people about big issues in the world. Many people have a daily life full of challenges
and with the course the world is taking on many issues, it can be both overwhelming
and depressing to face reality. We can provide positive stories, because we are
engaged in doing something positive – and that can encourage and cheer up other
people.

Our daily life is full of unique events and elements, experiences and events. When
living it, we sometimes forget how unique it is and how amazing it would be for other
people to hear about.

OWC is Another Kind of School – and you are Another Kind of Students (that is
participants).

Once you get into thinking about it, there are hundreds of headlines you can come up
to write small articles about for the Newsletter.

Here are some examples just to get you thinking – you can surely do much better
once you get started – and make the headlines a lot more interesting:

- Building comradeship with people from 6 different countries.

- We grow our own food.

- Debate about sugar and how it ended.

- Supporting the May team in reaching their fundraising goal.

- Big tasks are done through collective effort.

- At our school teachers and participants run the school together.

- The first time I gave a presentation and why it was a good experience.

- Actions to lower our CO2 footprint.

- Making a difference …… many small examples from the Service Period.

- Example of a DmM study task.

- Studying at One World University and getting a degree.

- My responsibility area is …... .

- Children are the new generation.

- Giving The Poor a human face.

- The many advantages of community living.

Surely you get the gist. So now it is up to you. Since I am on the mailing list,
I will look for your article!
Directive:
1. Brainstorm a list of possible headlines for articles for the Newsletter.

2. Show the list to a couple of other people – including some from the promotion
office.

3. Decide two headlines you will write an article about. An article is ¾ of a page
max and there must be at least one super good and illustrative picture.
4. Write the articles and select the photos.

5. Get comments from the same group of people you involved in point 2 and
adjust the article accordingly. It is both about content and grammar – we do not
send newsletters out with spelling mistakes!

6. Hand the finished products to the administrator and editor of the Newsletter
and get in published.
