Time:

Introduction:
You have already had, in other tasks from this period, the chance to compile various
products from your travels. The poster has been a part of the many methods or
means you have used to share your experiences, since it is a simple form of
communication. It enables you to transmit your message without having to be
constantly talking to people, and people also don’t need a lot of time to get
information about something from a poster.

As you know, people are always moving around throughout the day trying to make a
living, so it can be hard to find people who are willing to stand around long enough
to listen to you talking about your experiences. But you know that the information
you have to share will be important to a lot of people, so you decide to put up
posters in public places where anybody can get information without spending a lot
of time doing so. But how can you make a good poster?

First you need to know what a poster is. A poster is a mixed form of communication:
words and images together combine to give a message. The poster serves to motivate
or inform, and so it has to be well-designed. As we have just said, people have to
understand the message quickly and easily, so the poster must be well-made,
attractive and easy to understand, so that anybody passing by is obliged to stop and
look at it. By doing this you will be Bringing it to the Public quickly and simply.

This does not mean that your posters will only be put up in public places for passers-
by. You can also arrange to put them up in an exhibition or to present them in your
DNS, the neighbouring primary schools or public institutions, but it is still essential
that your message be transmitted quickly and easily.

For this activity, we have compiled a very simple guide in the files about how to
make a good poster. You can also use the experiences of fellow students at the DNS.

Good luck.
Directive:
1. Choose a theme that you want to represent on a poster.

2. Read the file F1 for some tips about how to make a good poster (F1: Como fazer um cartaz, angl. How to make a poster?, taken from http://www.eb23-cmdt-conceicao-silva.rcts.pt/sev/lp/fazer_cartaz.htm

3. Select the materials you need to make the poster: the colours that you use should
match the theme. It is important to make it clear to the public what the purpose of
the poster is.

4. Make the poster. First a draft and then the real poster.

5. Invite some fellow students and your teacher to look at your work and comment
on the quality.

6. Now you are ready to show your poster to the public.
