Introduction:
Ron Clark says,

“Carpe diem. You only live once, so don’t waste it. Life is made up
of special moments, many of which happen when caution is thrown
to the wind and people take action and seize the day.”

Life is what we live today. All the moments we live every day are moments that mean
something to us. For our happiness, we must make the most of these moments. We are
always doing something: sleeping, working, relaxing – all these moments are part of
our happiness today. We must make the most of them. Some people think that you can
only be happy when relaxing. That’s not true. Any person can be happy in all he is
doing. Therefore many people ask the others: Does your work make you happy?

Often, when a teacher works in the rural areas without transport for travels with the
pupils, he thinks that he can’t give his pupils good experiences. But that is not true. As
a teacher you can visit nature together with the pupils, with a new look, for example to
study the life of birds, the tracks of animals, the life of termites. Ron Clark points to
this fact by telling the teachers about his own experiences.

This task is a good opportunity for yourself to reflect critically on how to value new
experiences with your pupils.

Enjoy it!
Directive:
1. Read (F1) page 158-160 in Ron Clark’s book “The
Essential 55”.

2. Consider the impact Mr. Clark’s personal point of view
had on his students, write it down.

3. Use this opportunity to make up your own mind and create
your own opinion about what you will “go for” in life?

4. Consider whether it is possible to separate the personal life
from the professional life of a good teacher.

5. Imagine yourself as teacher in a village school; what kind
of new experiences can you bring into the lives of your
future students that will enrich their lives? Write it down in
the form of actual points for plans to be carried out, and
send it to your teacher for comments.
