In The Doctrine of the Modern Method of Teaching and Learning, the Experiences 
have got their own all-important space, in principle taking up 25% of the time of a 
program using DMM. 
 
This is an expression of schools and teachers using DMM &#39;&#39;acting according to who 
they are&#39;&#39;. 
DMM is maintaining that learning is based in the student&#39;s activities, and that these 
activities must evoke the emotions, use them to take a stand to important issues, 
confront knowledge with reality to obtain real understanding of various phenomena. 
 
DMM is also maintaining that learning takes place in dialectic processes, among 
them the dialectic between the individual student and the group comprising students 
as well as teacher &ndash; which you find represented in DMM in Studies and Courses as 
well as in the planning and evaluation processes laid into the method. Among them 
the dialectic between seeking out and exploring Experiences and letting them enrich 
Studies and Courses and vice-versa. 
 
DMM is maintaining that learning takes place in the context of a program, with a 
clearly defined and expressed idea and structured in a sequence of periods that leads 
the students through the totality of the program in an un-fragmented and continuous 
learning process. It is here the Experiences have their place. 
 
Thus placed in context of the program, the Experiences can make their influence on 
the students (and teachers): Open their hearts and minds to life itself, the world, its 
phenomena and its people, evoke emotions and provoke considerations, inspire to 
action and more learning. 
 
The Experiences in DMM can be traced back to the pedagogical principles of One 
World University. You can go through them one by one and identify where the 
Experiences have their place, or their say. The pedagogical principles form part of 
the theoretical foundation for this concept in DMM. 
 
In DMM, the Experience does not end at the end of the visit to the family in a 
foreign country or the end of a fantastic sports day full of victories and defeats. The 
Experience must go through a process of thought, reflection and analysis, often with 
a session of writing as the method. In this way, the Experience becomes a part of a 
conscious learning, and it becomes part of constructing the arsenal of knowledge 
and understanding that constantly develops in the student. 
 
In this task you will elaborate on your understanding of the DMM concept of 
Experience, in a combination of theoretical studies and own experimentation with 
the use of Experiences in DMM.
