Introduction:
A DMM study task is a teaching-and-learning programme. Writing a study task is
therefore teaching, the same way giving a course in a classroom is teaching.

The difference between the two is that a teacher in the classroom meets the students.
He or she can talk and show, can be asked questions and evaluate students during the
lesson. In this case, it is a dialectic process where the teacher controls the situation.

When it comes to a study task, the teacher and the learner probably never meet each
other. The teacher is not there to explain what is not clear, show what is not
understood and react when something is misinterpreted. It puts a lot of responsibility
on the creator of the study task. To put it simply: when you write one, make sure you
are not needed for solving it.

You are going to write a great study task within your favourite subject. We advise you
to pick up a topic you are knowledgeable about. It is to ensure that you focus on the
process of creation, not so much on investigating the topic. You have 19 subjects, two
specialisations and the monograph for investigating. Here, we concentrate on teaching.

While producing the task, very fast, you are going to realise that all its elements are
interconnected. The title, wording, introduction, files and directive depend on each
other. Also, the profile of the learner matters: each target group will have different
capacities and interests. What is clear is that you cannot define one without considering
another.

We will guide you through this exciting process of creation.

Notice that the task doesn’t need to be directed to a student at DNS. It could as well be
a fourth-grader studying mathematics in the suburbs of Århus.
Directive:
1. Read a guide with tips on producing study tasks (F1).

2. Produce a study task, using the guidelines from the file (F1), especially points 1 to 10
from the article “The process of creation” (pp. 5-6)

3. Show the work that you have done up to this point to your fellow students and get
their feedback.

4. Using the feedback, finalise the study task. The article from the guide (F1) titled “The
end result” (pp.7-11) might be helpful here.

5. Send the study task with all the attachments to your tutor for evaluation.

*6. If relevant and possible, get the task approved by One World University for use in its
programmes.
