The task is to understand how you cheat yourself when you are cheating with the point system.

Introduction:
When you enrolled to DNS you enrolled yourself for something very special. And<br /> to participate in something special, you must be special yourself, or become<br /> special, don’t you agree?<br /> <br /> As you have probably discovered yourself, you get a completely different<br /> education and will later have a job different from that of most people. It requires<br /> doing many things in an alternative way.<br /> <br /> One of them is that you have to get used to another way of studying by using the<br /> DMM method. You need to learn how to use it, so you can benefit the most from it.<br /> The point system gives you an opportunity to compose your own studying,<br /> understands it as a tool to see if you respond to the curriculum, and it is a<br /> motivational factor in being you own driving force in your education; this, of<br /> course, only if you use the method the way it is intended to be.<br /> <br /> If you ONLY go for collecting points no matter how, then DMM is of no use for<br /> you. The points will be “empty” points and you will be wasting the time for<br /> everybody.<br /> <br /> Remember that the easiest way is not necessarily the best, and it is probably not the<br /> one that will help you in the future.<br /> <br /> This is a common known ‘truth’ in general, and it also goes for the use of the<br /> DMM system and the points.<br /> <br /> My mom was always telling me that I was studying for my own good, not for her,<br /> and not for the teachers.<br /> <br /> When you are a child, you do not really pay attention to this kind of comments - at<br /> least I did not.<br /> <br /> But now I am no longer a child, and you are not a child any more. We have to<br /> understand why we are studying and what we want to achieve by studying.<br /> While you are using the DMM method, please think about why you use it, and who<br /> will benefit from it!<br /> <br /> Isn’t it you who in the future will stay in front of your pupils and give courses and<br /> presentations about different topics which YOU have learnt about?<br /> <br /> It is not your friend, not an encyclopedia or the internet.<br /> <strong>It is YOU.</strong><br /> <br /> You are responsible for your decisions, and YOU can become a very good teacher<br /> by learning as much as possible.<br /> <br /> The DMM system gives you freedom and chance to learn by your own. So, please<br /> use your chance, and give a special and thorough education for your students from<br /> a very special teacher, from YOU!
Directive:
1. Think! And answer honestly to the following questions:<br /> <div style="margin-left: 40px;">a. Is the point system created as (1) a tool for the<br /> teacher or (2) a tool for you;<br /> <br /> b. Choose your answer between the following<br /> number 1 and 2, and describe shortly in which<br /> situation you will learn the most (1) by copying<br /> from a fellow student or (2) by solving the task<br /> yourself;<br /> <br /> c. Make a short description of why you are studying<br /> at DNS, what are your expectations to the<br /> education;<br /> <br /> d. Are you aware that you can improve your final<br /> mark by having solved more than the minimum<br /> tasks required for passing a period?<br /> <br /> e. Are you aware that you will get a better education<br /> the more tasks you solve?<br /> <br /> f. Are you aware that the only person you cheat<br /> when cheating with the point system is yourself?<br /> </div> 2. Write an essay on the subject and get help to take a<br /> stand to the questions put to you above; consider the fact<br /> that ½ of the school time is spent on studies.
