Introduction:
Rapid technological and scientific advances worldwide are changing the societal
rules of play for everyone. Research, science and product development are all
accelerating at a speed with which state educational institutions cannot keep up.

We need to educate new generations who are ready to take on the world.

A generation who retain their innate curiosity about the world and learn to seek and
absorb knowledge.

A generation that understands/accepts the complexity of life and the world, and
continually strive to delve deeper into new, unknown topics.

A generation with well developed social skills.

A generation with a high ethical standard.

A generation ready for new challenges.

A productive generation ready to lift big task in community with others.

It is important that a DNS teacher, or a coming teacher on a DNS course,
understands his or her role in showing how best to educate coming generations.

The specific curriculum is becoming less important than teaching students to be
curious, to take responsibility and teaching them how to learn. From the teacher
having the central role- preparing what to say in lessons, deciding what ALL
students should be able to answer in order to have learned their lesson, it is now
necessary to put each individual student at the centre of their own learning process.

At DNS we are in the happy situation that we have a unique teaching system which
has revolutionised schooling for those coming into contact with it. It puts the
individual student right in the centre. In DMM, experiences have their place as part
of the education process for each individual. Understanding the scope and
possibilities in DMM is quite a challenge.

The computers at DMM are our modern teaching means. DMM is the modern
teaching method. Study tasks are found on the shared database, as are courses and
experiences. DMM, however, is not about the computers. They are a means to an
end and DMM could be used as a method even with no computers. Computers make
things easier and more efficient, but DMM is a philosophy and way of learning.
Directive:
1. Read the file (F1) “The study Methods of Training” in the DNS Zambia book
page 126-139.

2. Write and explain 10 important qualities in the DMM study method.

3. Explain how the studies, courses and experiences work.

4. Explain what constitutes the modernity in DMM.

5. What demands does the DMM study method put on the teacher?

6. In which way is DMM a part of moving the student?

7. Send your answer to your tutor.
