Introduction:
In the classroom, the teacher works with children who live in different social situations.
Some children live under very bad conditions, others enjoy a good life. In this context,
the teacher has to discover how far the children adopt the teaching. As responsible for
all the children, the teacher must consider all of them as his children.

The teacher’s working space is not only the classroom. It can be realized in any place,
if only the teacher creates the necessary conditions for his objectives to be reached.

Therefore, the success of the teacher’s work depends to a large extent on how the
pupils are organized - all the pupils - in order to be all at the same level of knowledge
at the end of a lesson or other unit of activity as planned by the teacher or the school.

One of the most important organizations is that of the pupils, and here we will stress
that of organizing the pupils in groups of study or groups of work. The work in groups
gives the pupils the opportunity to an exchange of ideas and opinions, developing the
necessary practical abilities of living together with others.

In the school, the work in groups aims at completing, fixing and enriching knowledge
and experiences, respecting individual differences, developing the sense of
responsibility, training the capacity of leadership and accept of others, developing the
critical sense and creativity, developing the spirit of cooperation.

The formation of the groups may be spontaneous or directed. It is spontaneous when
the pupils unite freely, be it by physical proximity or personal preference. The
formation is directed when the pupils are united by the decision of the teacher. In this
latter case, the teacher establishes the groups on the basis of certain criteria, such as the
work to be done, deficiencies to be remedied, care for pupils who are particularly
excluded by the others, etc.

In this task, you will get the opportunity to learn more on this form of organizing the
pupils and we hope that you, along with solving the task, will learn wonderful things
which, for certain, will help you in your work as a teacher.

Enjoy it!
Directive:
1. Read the file (F1) about how to organize the classroom for
better learning results.

2. Make a list of five examples in which situations it is best
to organize the children in groups of five.

3. Make a list of five examples in which situations it is best
to organize the children in groups of 20.

4. Make a list of five examples in which situations it is best
to organize the children in the whole class.

5. 5. Choose one example from each (2, 3 and 4) describe the
learning situation and defend why your choice of method
is good; send the list and the defense to your teacher for
comments.
