Title:
Wording:
The task is to write an essay about concentrating on “Big Issues” and not “Small Issues” when teaching children in the Primary School.
Time:
hours
Introduction:
I am sure that every day you have moments where you classify the current issue as an
“important issue” and moments where you classify the current issue as a “not important
issue”. Maybe you would consider an issue as important if it would harm you in case it
was not dealt with, for example in case you do not justify an absence, you might lose
some salary; therefore you have to justify in time. But it is not daily routines we are
talking about in this task. We are talking about something more profound, something
concerning the education of the children, which deserves more of our attention.

“Important Issues” or “Great Issues” and “Small Issues”, you must know how to
distinguish between them. Imagine that you would spend a whole day discussing with
your pupils dates of birth or birthdays. Instead of discussing what is the origin of the
birth of a child. This is just a small example with the objective of placing you in the
context of this task.

I am sure that you already understood what this task is about. You will learn how to
distinguish important issues from minor issues. You will learn to concentrate on
important issues and only pay due attention to the minor ones, when teaching in
primary school.

Enjoy it!
Directive:
1. Read (F1) the book “Preschool Children of the Future”
paying special attention to where it talks about presenting big
issues instead of small issues.

2. Write an essay wherein you describe the difference between
“Big Issues” and “Small Issues”, and describe your future
self as a teacher giving the best to the children.

3. Send the essay to your teacher for comments.
