Introduction:
There are many challenges for the education towards the open future of the coming
generation. Our planet, our civilization, faces many challenges and are at risk in several ways.

Climate crisis threatens.
Environmental crisis threatens
Globalization runs amok, leaving billions of poor behind
Wealth is gathered on very few hands.
Longevity is for the people from the North.
Pandemics are threatening people´s lives welfare and are locking down societies

All these challenges put a pressure upon our ability to both maintain and develop our living conditions, our economic fundament and solve problems like poverty, inequality and a life in dignity for all people on earth.
Besides it is very difficult to foresee what will happen more than 5 years ahead. Things are happening too fast. Planning and initiatives in communites and societies has to take into consideration that maybe the unusual and the unexpected will happen. Preparedness towards the uncertain has to be included.

In the educational field it means that is difficult for young people to make the choice of which education is to prefer. Probably is what they learn in whatever education outdated within a short time span. So what is actually a proper education. It is challenge for the youth, and it is also a challenge for the teachers. The teachers have to Another Kind of Teachers in another kind of world.

The countries in the world have agred upon The World Sustainable Goals as a life-necessary response to the challenges above, and a direction and a standard for how the world should develop and serve the world´s people. That is concrete politics, concrete economics, and it is also a huge pedagogical task. For all, for the teachers.

The teacher will have to do her job in this context. Teachers are in particular important when it comes to
train people for the future. It is an important discussion to find out what are the capacities, characteristics and responsibilities to a teacher in the 21st Century.
To meet the challenges mentioned above you could say that the teacher training has to include to be able to be creative and productive and with an ability to work with and make changes together with others. The teacher´s work is related to the society, and political in a broad sense. The teacher is part of the community.
Or is the answer to the challenges above that the individual teacher define herself as only a teacher and seeks her own solutions in order to just fill out her specific postion in whatever school setting? Or a mix?

The responsibility of a teacher must anyway be to make it possible for the youth to make their way best possible in a complex, demanding, mostly not fair and fast changing world. the teacher will be a role model, her enthusiasm or lack of, will influence the environment, the same will her resilience.
Her ability to collaborate, build collectives, to find solutions for challenges, to achieve the necessary information or skills, not to rely on business as usual, to show how to navigate in the surroundings, among other people and in the world will be important for her students to have a training that will benefit them in the future. Will the students just adapt to the changing world, or will they be world changers?

The demands to the teacher has become persistingly complex, and it has become more important how you see yourself as a teacher. A teacher who adapt to the sitution or a teacher aiming at being a wolrld changer?

eel lost, cannot find work and experience the training they have received to
be no match for the jobs available.

The Millennium Goals for 2015 have no chance of fulfilment.
These challenges call for new coming teachers to be quite another kind of teacher.
The future teacher will have chances to succeed when she is idealistic and when she wants
to work hard.

What kind of tools will be important tools for the future teacher?
The teacher must inspire by example.
You will do whatever it takes to be a good teacher.

As a teacher you will understand that it is not enough to think, read and talk about the
world, its conditions and its cruelties and taking your stand, although all this is fair and
noble as such. To live up to the needs of the future teacher you must purposely figure out
how to influence all the factors within your reach, so that you set your mark on the
direction, speed and quality of how the world must fare in our future, rooting out the
calamities.

The future teacher is the leader of children, teenagers and adult people. To live a good life
and contribute to your fellow human beings as a teacher, taking the world of today into
consideration, you simply have to learn, and learn much, because with only little
knowledge you will not get far.

As a teacher, and as a human being, you must learn to feel compassion for other people and
be part of collectively acting with others, working with mind and body, being at home in
the world, creating new ideas and ways of living and developing, and a human being must
learn to be a political and ethical aware and acting person.

As a future teacher it is not enough to know about the world, you must take out your hands
from the pockets and think out ways in which to act practically and humanely to reach out
to this world, leading with compassion when warranted, and expressing the direction
mankind must take to survive and thrive.

To be able to act like the future teacher you must therefore decide which pedagogical
principles you will work with, and you will have to set up goals for you as the teacher.
You will understand the importance of making a program – with goals and products.
And then you will have to do this together with other teachers where you can create the
same goals for your teaching.
