Time:
hours
Introduction:
This task gives you the chance to broaden your experience of lesson planning.

Carefully planning a lesson in detail and carrying out this plan is the daily “bread” that
will help you do your job in education successfully. Planning a lesson has many
advantages, because it guarantees directed teaching/learning and allows for efficiency
in the classroom so that the work can be done better. Daily planning will contribute not
only to achieving objectives and to the quality of your teaching, but it will also ensure
you avoid routine and improvisation in your professional activities.

Read this story:

Teacher Beto taught a 3 rd grade class. During his first term teaching he carried out his
lessons without prior preparation, that is, with no planning. As his activities developed,
he didn’t always know how to answer his pupils’ questions, he always arrived late, the
materials that he used didn’t correspond to the cognitive level of his pupils and he
always improvised his activities.

In a biology class one day, he received pedagogical observation, and his lesson plan
was requested. Beto’s hands were tied and following the observation, he was
suspended for 15 days.

After 15 days, Beto was asked to give a statement to the Pedagogical Support Services
about his behaviour. Beto swore, in all honesty, that he would never again give classes
without properly planning them first. When Beto returned to the school, he started
planning his tasks every day. He became a model teacher and received a lot of praise.
Beto’s classification at the end of the year was as ZIP’s best teacher and he won prizes
such as a books and dictionaries.

What do you think of this story?
Directive:
1. Read the files (F1;F2) “The lesson plan” and “Mistakes in
lesson planning”.

2. Use the information in the files as a guideline to produce
your own lesson plan; get the plan qualified in your micro
group.

3. Carry out the lesson according to your plan.

4. Evaluate the lesson with special attention to whether the
preparation and the plan was okay.

5. Make a summary of the process and send it to your teacher
for comments.
